 We are so sorry to see Jim leaving. We first came to Lee County in 1979 and found Jim to be the best local forecaster ever since. In today’s age of “talk as fast as you can” TV personalities, it has always been a re-assuring event when Jim was on with his slower and more confident style. I don’t think any other announcer even knows what they are saying when speaking because they are spewing words so fast. I always thought Jim was having a conversation with me and I was able to understand exactly what he was saying. I surely hope other young aspiring weather, sports and news reporters have been inspired by his delivery, knowledge and demeanor and will return us to this refreshing style.

As a husband and father, I can appreciate the need for him to spend more time with his family and wish him the best. I found life slipping past with ever increasing speed and discovered I had missed much of my children’s formative years because I thought I needed to make more money; for them!. Yes, you’ll miss that paycheck but as long as you have a roof over your heads and food in the fridge and are together, you’ll be happier.

My husband and I moved to South West Florida in July of 2019 after a few weeks of being here hurricane Dorian was coming to Florida and being from Boston I had never experienced a hurricane before and I was TERRIFIED!!!!! And you were so CALM!!!

So I listened and paid attention and I followed everything you said from buying water and get things prepared in case Dorian came to SWF it was the longest 18 days of my life I couldn’t even sleep. I love that you only give the facts with no hype and your calmness made me calm and you got me through my first hurricane.

So hurricane season of 2020 I was not terrified I watched you and paid attention to wind directions and wind gusts and you got me through the largest number of hurricanes in one season and I am so grateful to you for that.

I am heartbroken that you are retiring who will get me through hurricane season with your calmness !!!! I do know whoever takes your place will have my trust to get me through Florida’s hurricane season safely.

I am also truly happy for you and your family time to enjoy all your hard work.I can’t thank you enough for all you have done to keep us safe and calm.

This is one Bostonian that is really going to miss you.”
