Psychologist Karen Schumann explains that this is down to the pandemic prompting a period of reflection.
‘Perhaps for the first time ever, we have all been given the opportunity to “pause” life, to actually have the time to sit and reevaluate what is important to us,’ Karen tells Metro.Co.Uk. ‘Spending more time at home and perhaps with family, may have made a lot of us realise that there is more to life than work, or that our work/life balance was completely off kilter.
‘Having the time to sit back and take stock of our lives has enabled us to really think about what is important to us, and ask ourselves, what do I want from life? Does my career make me happy? Was there ever anything else I wanted to do?

‘The time we have had in lockdown may allow some people to look at this trapped feeling for the first time, and really think about a big change in order to feel happier.’
Lockdown has given us space to mull over our life choices, and intensified our gaze on the not so great bits.
At the same time, we’re going through a period of collective loss and trauma, which may prompt us wanting to shed the past and move forward in a new way.
